Tryfield_ Beach Dream ( from a dream )
The Storm Over the Caterpillar Rocks
I woke up in my dream standing on a stone formation. In the distance, I saw a long rock formation; it looked as if it were crawling across the water, caterpillar-shaped, old and weary, standing in the water as if on legs. It seemed so ancient that, due to weathering, it appeared almost like giant stone archways, catching the remaining sunlight and letting the little bit of water dancing between them sparkle softly.

A turquoise-deep blue beam, gushing from the depths of the horizon, transformed the sky into a mystical scenario. So, I sat on this stone at the edge of the sea and looked into the distance toward the Caterpillar Rocks, behind which a front of massive cloud towers was building up. Through their sheer mass, they increasingly swallowed the light of the sun shimmering through from behind.

The sky grew darker and darker, and an ice-cold breeze swept in over the sea. It shrouded the rocks in a misty, dark cloak that slowly crept closer. As if out of nowhere, the great giant cloud, which just moments ago seemed miles behind the rocks, raced over the first formation in the distance and swallowed it in seconds.

I reacted lightning-fast, jumped down from my rock, and ran to a stone that the water had cleared of sand by about half a meter. I crouched into its niche and waited fearfully for the impending impact. By now, the entire scene had turned into a dark green sea of nothingness, which I tried to break with my small flashlight.

And then it was there, the moment: A huge cloud pushed over the entire beach scene at a perceived 200 km/h. Trapped as if in a blizzard, I huddled behind a small rock, armed only with a tiny flashlight. But as quickly as the cloud arrived and the storm raged over me, it was over in seconds.

It had pushed the entire volume of water back hundreds of meters from the world-rocks and the shore. Slowly, I made my way back to the beach through small channels, while the newly liberated sunlight shimmered and trembled softly within them. Waiting a moment longer, I stood up, walked to the shore, and took in the spectacle—receiving the small waves with my hands.

Then, I woke up.
