original text sources: This is a “Type 6 with special arm” Lamppost, circa the 1900s. Location: Southwest corner of Washington Street and Chambers Street. This lamppost was maintained by The New York Edison Company and utilized under the elevated subway lines and awnings. The photo was taken in 1981 and the lamppost was replaced in 1982.
